Ponsonby Park

Motu Design were invited to participate in a community run design competition for the landscape design of a park on the existing ‘nosh Supermarket’ site on Ponsonby Road, in Ponsonby Auckland. We were keen to support this initiative, and to have some fun so pulled together an entry with what spare time we had available and surprised ourselves by coming third ! Check out our submission - with native bush, colourful hibiscus flowers, orchard trees, market stalls and a community stage for urban events, Te Rimutahi (the one Rimu) draws together various strands of Ponsonby’s history into a collaborative landscape proposal.

Unitary Plan

Unitary Plan

After several years of speculation, hundreds of submissions, and hours of evidence, the new Auckland Unitary Plan was made operative in part in November 2016. During the hearings process, we provided expert urban design evidence for Auckland Council’s Auckland Design Office on provisions for Design Statements, and the precinct provisions for Albany Centre and Kingseat. We also supported submitters in Takapuna.

Cook Island House

Cook Island House

Motu Design have been supporting the Cook Island community as the principle sponsor behind the renovation of the Nor-Western Cook Island Community Centre’s community house in Ranui. In December 2016 it was officially re-opened. The house is located on the same site as a Cook Island pre-school and provides a space for the Mama’s and Papa’s to gather and support the pre-school whilst undertaking traditional arts and crafts, as well as being a base for community services, and gatherings.
